Welcome!
Thank you for your interest in Salem Alliance Church. We’re a community of people who are on a faith journey together. We’re all at different stages. None of us has “arrived.” But together we’re experiencing the joy of entering into the love of God.
I’m sure you will find this website helpful in answering many of your questions about us. But, if you can’t find something you are looking for, don’t hesitate to call our church office at 503.581.2129.

What's Happening on Broadway?
To date, we have received $1.880 million for the project. Our prayer is to raise $4 million by February 28, 2009.
The Governing Board and Pastoral Management Team (PMT) have agreed and are moving ahead with the concept of a medical clinic on our campus. We are having conversations with West Salem Foursquare Church to talk about collaborating with them. West Salem Foursquare currently operates a free medical clinic twice a month at Walker Middle School.

Broadway Project - Volunteers Needed
We are going door to door to survey the Grant and Highland neighborhoods in an effort to hear the needs of our neighbors and gain input concerning the Broadway building. We need 150 volunteers to make this successful. The survey will be held for nine days over a three-week period, and we are hoping each volunteer can serve at least three days of this time. If you are interested or have questions, please stop by Registration Desk in the lobby this weekend.

Project: Back to School 2008
Project: Back to School will be here in no time, and we need you to help make it happen! The clothing drive begins in early August, so clean out your closets and get ready to bring in your gently used clothing for all ages. The main event is Saturday, August 16. We will be giving away backpacks and school supplies. Next time you are at the store, pick up a few items for these students in need (lists are at the Information Desk). We also need your time! We’d love to have you volunteer at the event. We need personal shoppers, set-up crews, greeters and behind-the-scenes help. We also need volunteers to staff the clothing drive in August (2-3, 9-10, 11-14).
Please contact Becca Mann at bmann@salemalliance.org if interested!

Leadership training and support materials will be provided.

SAC Pictorial Directory
And the adventure begins… This fall we will be working with Olan Mills to put together a pictorial directory. More information will be coming about the specifics of the actual directory, BUT even with the use of digital photography and online registrations, we will still need help from those of you that love time-limited projects. If you are interested in serving at a signup station during weekend services the months of August through mid November to make photo appointments, please call Marie Howard at 503-581-2129, x 243 or email mhoward@salemalliance.org to get plugged in. We need 8-10 volunteers for the Saturday night services and 8-10 volunteers for the Sunday services. This will allow us to set up a rotational schedule so no one person is on every weekend.

What Darwin Didn’t Know
A quiet revolution is happening within the realm of biology. A field that was once dominated by Darwinian Evolution is being challenged by the so called “Intelligent Design” theory. The intelligent design theory claims that there are numerous cases of design in nature; that it could not have come about by chance. The notable law professor Phillip Johnson has said that “the evidence for intelligent causes in the universe is much more threatening to the [Darwinists] than a thousand miracle stories.” Come see for yourself what all of the controversy is about! Classes will start Wednesday, July 30, and meet for five weeks. Cost is $20. Sign ups begin next weekend in the lobby.
Senior Men’s Golf
All senior men are invited to meet weekly for a round of golf and plenty of fellowship at Cross Creek Golf Course. Tee time is at 8:00 am every Thursday morning, and the cost for 18 holes is $22. Give the course a call to sign-up at 503-623-6666. If you have any further questions, please contact Al Kinnee at 503-378-0012.
Host an International Student
Looking for an opportunity to impact the world right here in Salem? Host a young “ambassador” from the Middle East, the former Soviet Union or many other places. Students from closed countries can be reached through your hospitality. Visit the Registration Booth or email Josh at jmann@salemalliance.org for more information.
